About MT-09 [2017-2018]

The Yamaha MT-09 was re-introduced in the Indian market in November 2017 with a few cosmetic updates and a BS-IV compliant engine.

The bike sports a radical design language and gets a beefy-tank along with an upright riding position. It also gets a split LED headlamp unit, revised seat, bigger air-intake scoops and a revised tail section. Powering the MT-09 is an 847cc in-line three cylinder engine that puts out 111bhp and 87.5Nm of torque. This power is transferred to the rear wheel via a six-speed gearbox along with an assist and slipper clutch and quickshifter for clutch less upshifts.

Electronics package on the MT-09 includes a 3-position D-Mode function that lets you adjust engine power, 2-mode traction control and ABS. The ABS unit is supported by twin 298mm discs up front and a 245mm disc at the rear end. The bike rides on an upgraded 41mm inverted fork setup for the front and a link-type suspension for the rear.

The Yamaha MT-09 is offered in grey with yellow, blue with black and a dark grey paint scheme. The bike is priced at Rs 10.88 lakhs and rivals against the Triumph Street Triple RS and the Kawasaki Z900.
