About Fat Boy

Harley-Davidson Fat Boy is a cruiser bike available at a starting price of Rs. 24,49,000 in India. It is available in only 1 variant and 4 colours. The Harley-Davidson Fat Boy is powered by 1868cc BS6 engine which develops a power of 92.5 bhp and a torque of 155 Nm. With both front and rear disc brakes, Harley-Davidson Fat Boy comes up with anti-locking braking system. This Fat Boy bike weighs 317 kg and has a fuel tank capacity of 18.9 liters.

Harley-Davidson India has updated its portfolio with the launch of the 2023 Fatboy 114 in our market. This motorcycle from the American manufacturer is available in a single variant and four colours in India – Vivid Black, Bright Billiard Blue, Grey Haze with Silver Fortune, and Heirloom Red Fade (120th Anniversary edition).

The Vivid Black paint theme is the most affordable option on the list, while the 120th Anniversary edition, which features a commemorative Heirloom Red Fade colour and a “1903 – 2023: 120 Years” badge on the fuel tank, is the priciest version. Meanwhile, the styling cues on the motorcycle continue to feature a single-pod headlight, rear-swept handlebar, fuel tank mounted instrument cluster with chrome surrounds, step-up seat, and twin-pod exhaust canister. The company will also offer several optional accessories to further customise this motorcycle.

The feature list across the range includes full-LED lighting and a semi-digital instrument cluster. The fuel-tank-mounted console displays an analogue speedometer along with a digital screen that includes a gear indicator, odometer, fuel level readout, clock, trip metre, and range and tachometer indication.

The mechanical specifications on the 2023 Harley-Davidson Fatboy 114 include a 1,868cc, V-twin engine that is claimed to deliver a fuel economy of 5.5 litres/100km (18.18kmpl). Linked to a six-speed gearbox, this motor delivers a maximum output of 92.5bhp at 5,020rpm and a peak torque of 155Nm at 3,500rpm.

Further, the suspension setup on this Harley-Davidson motorcycle comprises 49mm telescopic front forks with aluminium triple clamps and a preload-adjustable rear monoshock. The braking duties are handled by a single disc with a four-piston fixed calliper at the front and a single rotor with a two-piston floating calliper at the rear. Moreover, the motorcycle rides on 18-inch cast aluminium rims that are shod in 160/60-section front and 240/40-section rear tubeless tyres.

Harley-Davidson Fat Boy Expert Opinion

  • Good Things

    • Lots of chrome
    • The torquey engine is perfect for long rides
    • Accessible seat height of 670mm
  • Could be Better

    • Weighs over 300kgs
    • Ride quality is a bit stiff
    • Expensive to maintain

BikeWale's Take

The Fat Boy is one of the highest selling bikes of Harley-Davidson. The overall styling, torquey engine and the strong brand value makes it a very enticing purchase. It’s a perfect motorcycle for someone who loves long distance riding. But with over 300kgs weight, it is difficult to manage in the city.
