About CB1000R+ [2018-2019]

Successor to the CB1000R previously sold in the country, Honda has re-entered the naked litre-class space in India with the CB1000R+. The motorcycle adopts a new design language called ‘Neo Sports Café’ which was first showcased as a concept during the 2017 Tokyo Motor Show. The biggest highlight of the motorcycle is its styling. It has a minimalistic look with a sculpted fuel tank, brushed aluminium radiator covers and a front fender, complete with a round LED headlamp. It also gets a single-sided swingarm which adds to its style quotient.

While the styling is retro, the motorcycle comes with ample modern features like a quirky full-colour TFT display for the instrument console. Other features include ride-by-wire, traction control, ABS and four riding modes. Suspension duties are handled by fully-adjustable inverted forks for the front and a monoshock unit for the rear from Showa. For braking, the bike comes with 310mm twin-discs up front and a single 256mm disc for the rear.

Powering the CB1000R+ is a revised 999cc, liquid-cooled, inline 4-pot motor with a longer stroke that allows more torque and midrange rather than outright performance. The engine is rated to produce 143bhp and 104Nm and comes paired to a 6-speed gearbox.

Since the CB1000R+ is a top-spec model in the series, it comes with additional kit which includes heated grips, aluminium fly screen and cowl for the pillion seat. Mechanically, it also gets a two-way quickshifter as standard.

In India, the CB1000R+ competes against the Kawasaki Z1000 and the BMW Motorrad S 1000 R.
