KTM RC200-rivalling Honda CBR250RR design patented in India

- Honda CBR250RR patents filed

- Uses a 249cc, parallel-twin engine

- No confirmation about Indian launch

The South-East Asian market has a big demand for 250cc motorcycles which is why the Honda CBR250RR even exists. And now, the Japanese brand has filed design patents of the sportbike in India. Does it mean that its launch is imminent?

Well, there is no confirmation about the CBR250RR being launched in India but we do not expect to see the motorcycle here. Even with patents filed, there is no guarantee for a product to be launched. However, the CBR250RR is surely an interesting motorcycle. Powered by a 249cc, parallel-twin motor that CBR takes on the Yamaha R25 available in international markets. It churns out 38.2bhp and 23.3Nm while the top-spec SP variant offers 42bhp and 25Nm.

It even comes with features like full-LED lighting digital instrument cluster, slipper and assist clutch mechanism, and three ride modes. Styling has been kept sharp all through its bodywork. Right from the aggressive front end to the sharp tail section that features split seats. What’s more, the CBR250RR weighs in at just 168kg and has a fuel tank capacity of 14.5-litre. Suspension on the motorcycle is handled by Showa SFF-BP forks up front and a monoshock at the rear. Meanwhile, braking is done by discs at both ends with dual-channel ABS.

While the SP variant is listed in four paint options. The colour choices for the standard version include Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic and Black Freedom. If it is ever launched in India, the Honda CBR250RR will go up against the KTM RC200 here.
