About 450X

Ather 450X Gen 3 is an electric scooter available at a starting price of Rs. 1,44,436 in India. It is available in 2 variants and 6 colours with top variant price starting from Rs. 1,65,004. Ather 450X Gen 3 generates 3300 W power from its motor. With both front and rear disc brakes, Ather 450X Gen 3 comes up with combined braking system of both wheels.

Ather Energy has recently updated its product portfolio. The brand has discontinued the Plus variant of its 450 e-scooter and now only offers the 450X, but in two variants – standard and Pro Pack.

Both the trims look identical and only differ in terms of features. Design-wise, the 450X looks quite sporty with its aggressive overall styling. Its fascia houses an LED headlight mounted on the apron. Meanwhile, the front and rear side panels get cuts and creases to enhance the sporty feel of the scooter.

Ather has powered the 450X with a 6.2kW motor and a 3.7kWh lithium-ion battery. The said setup is attributed to the scooter's claimed range of 105km (Eco mode) and 90kmph of top speed. Further, the Ather 450X also gets 2GB RAM and 16GB ROM.

On the feature front, the standard model gets a single-ride mode and a seven-inch TFT with a grey-scale dashboard. The charging time for the base mode is 15 hours and 20 minutes.

Meanwhile, the 450X Pro Pack comes loaded with five riding modes – Smart Eco, Eco, Ride, Sport, and Warp. It also benefits from fast charging, hill assist, Bluetooth compatibility, music and call display, auto-indicator off, navigation, guide-me-home lights, tyre pressure monitoring system, document storage, OTA (Over The Air) updates, and remote charge monitoring. The charging time for the Pro Pack version is five hours and 40 minutes.

Ather has equipped the 450X with telescopic front forks and a single rear shock, while the braking hardware comprises a single front and rear disc with a combined braking system and regenerative braking. Both models ride on 12-inch alloys wrapped in 90/90 front and 100/80 rear tyres. The 450X gets a 22-litre under-seat storage space.

You can buy the Ather 450X in six different colours – Lunar Grey, Gloss Red, Comic Black, Salt Green, Space Grey, and Still White. The price difference between the two variants is about Rs. 30,000.

Ather 450X Gen 3 Expert Opinion

  • Good Things

    • Churns out excellent performance
    • The touchscreen cluster is quite responsive
    • Features fast charging too
  • Could be Better

    • The asking price is on the higher side
    • Limited sales, service reach
    • Lacks colour options

BikeWale's Take

The Ather 450X is possibly one of the fastest scooters in India. It is equipped with a bigger motor and battery which helps it churn out better top speed and acceleration. It is also equipped with the famous touch screen instrument cluster. But this e-scooter is available only in few cities and is also priced quite high.
